8.5Effortless and glittery, the sound of a band who've stopped trying to reinvent themselves and just leaned into what they do best. Recorded inside the Louvre of all places, and somehow that grandeur seeps in without ever weighing the songs down, still light on its feet, still built for the dance floor. Tonight glows the brightest, that back and forth with Ezra Koenig feels like the record's emotional center, longing dressed up as a duet. A few tracks drift toward familiar territory, synths and hooks they've clearly done before, but the songwriting is sharp enough that it never feels tired. Not their boldest record, but maybe their most purely enjoyable one in years.
