7/10 — A fun, interesting, and genuinely enjoyable album. The Crux is an easy album to enjoy. Djo brings a quirky, slightly psychedelic sound with catchy melodies, interesting production, and enough experimentation to keep things from feeling predictable. It has a laid-back, modern indie-rock vibe that makes it particularly easy to throw on and just let play. It may not be an album that completely blows me away or demands repeated listens, but that doesn’t take away from what it does well. It’s fun, different, and consistently enjoyable from beginning to end, with enough personality to stand out. 7/10 — not a masterpiece, but a really good time. An interesting album with a unique sound that I’m happy to come back to when I’m looking for something fun and easy to listen to.
