The First Songs

One of the absolute finest of the “singer-songwriter” stuff from the late 60s. Pop perfection really. Her voice is quirky, her influences are not rock, and her lyrics are oddly fascinating. She was a one-of-a-kind artist: out of step and lovely. She died far too young. This album was called More Than A New Discovery when it was first released on Verve in 1967, First Songs is the Columbia reissue. I like the original title better. Whatever you wanna call it, call it sublime.
