Alfie (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture)

Old habits die hard, and so does Jagger's ear for a bittersweet hook, even on a soundtrack nobody asked for. Mostly built around him and Dave Stewart, and there's real chemistry there, especially on the more world weary tracks where Jagger's voice sounds properly lived in rather than just going through the motions. Old Habits Die Hard is the clear centerpiece, ragged and genuinely moving in a way the rest doesn't quite match. Some of it tips into glossy, over sentimental territory that feels more soundtrack filler than real Jagger, but when it locks in it's better than it has any right to be. A surprisingly solid detour, even if it never escapes being a soundtrack.
