Tenderness and honesty in album form. No bells and whistles, which makes this album great. The skippiness (no idea if this is a real word) added to the radio version of Cannonball takes away everything that this album is…raw and stripped back. Tough one to only choose three tracks from.

Elton’s best album IMO, like nothing else he’s done. Well known tracks such as Tiny Dancer (thank you Cameron Crowe) and Levon, paired with the longer and more epic title track and Indian Sunset….sampled by none other than 2Pac!

Cracking debut from a band that don’t quite sound like anyone else. A sound that is pure with seemingly a ton of different instruments but also scuzzy (good scuzzy) and slightly off kilter.

A vocalist with a killer voice in Beth Gibbons, but with the unique Bristol trip-hop sound. An album that wouldn’t be made nowadays, but at the same time it’s ageing like a fine wine.

Raw, loud, chaotic and introducing 9 MCs with wildly differing styles…the ultimate hip hop posse album.

An epic hip hop opera with Kanye’s ego in full flow and some killer guest spots (see Nicki Minaj on Dark Fantasy and Monster). Rating the album not the artist!

An album full of stories and great songs centered around everyday life.

When a lot of other music was more predicable, Bloc Party introduced a jauntiness, unpredictability and fun. A banger of an album.

One of the most moving albums I own, made even more so given the tragic circumstances. Beautiful.
