Influences are audible, but Satchel is very much their own unique, remarkable thing. Their music is both crushing and uplifting, often in the same track (see: "Suffering"). Shawn Smith, you are loved and missed.

It's not fair to call any record by QOTSA a "reinvention" for the band, because they've chased their muse pretty religiously, regardless of where said muse led them, but "...Like Clockwork" felt like a completely new level.
