I have been patiently waiting for TODAY!!!
thankfully I was able to listen to it a little earlier tonight and I have to say, it’s everything I thought it would be and more
nicky c I am so immensely proud of you man
okay. Hear me out.
You NEED to hear this record.
if you don’t know , let me set this up for you.
matt champion was a member of America’s second favorite boy band (brockhampton) we’re on a verse way back in 2019 he mentions that he wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for (Dijon) . Yes. THAT Dijon. The one who has helped mk.gee on Justin Bieber’s latest victory lap.
why do I open with that?
because this is the first love letter into the sub genre of which Dijon+Mkgee created.
Dijon even has a feature here!
a lot of this is Matt with raw vocals on a drum machine, and the hurt that he experienced to make this record is what makes it hauntingly beautiful.
I love it, I love it even more when it gets cold outside
this will go down as his Mona Lisa.
many may not see the beauty of it quite yet but years from now, it will make more sense I think.
it’s a love letter to Florida.
The visuals for this album are top tier and the weezer ref is goated
there’s a lot for themes of his childhood/ being raised/ and mental notes I appreciate a lot.
it’s progressive + fun.
i don't truly see where you can say that this is not a
"complete" sounding record -
it definitely is.
lyrically it is so raw and intimate to him as a person, the writing on this - is the reason it was one of my favorite albums of 2024-
I'm always searching like for what i want my next material to sound like, or have a reference to, and i would pick this album for sure, because it's easier to obtain this theme .
'Isn't That Enough', >> the lyric of "I'm still changing - my friends stay patient-" spot on for my life.
And HEART OF GOLD. man COME ON.
If you know me, you know i am an AVID John Mayer fan- and i know that John was able to listen to this record earlier, directly from Shawn himself, and i just feel so much JM in this track.
And we're all just rollin' right along.

and as August finally truly comes to a close, i have to end it out with none other, than my good friend, Noah K.
I sat with this record all summer. on sunny days, on rainy ones.
i listened to it in the car so so many times. l've listened to it on a porch under the stars. l've played it a few times through start to finish on the guitar.
and yet. it still lingers. i think it will for quite some time.
i can't pick a favorite song
i have a lot of stuff that has changed in my life in the past year and I'm so thankful for this album, because it has really carried me through!
so I wasn’t too familiar with seahaven before this release other than their song silhouette - i really like this album, and it’s got a strong push from one song to the next. however at certain parts it can feel kind of {playlisty} you can tell they had so many ideas that they wanted to execute, which is not a bad thing, because they pulled them all off well!! but as far as a cohesive body of work, not so much.
still really good!
This is my favorite album (of all time).
It helped me through some of the hardest times in my life, and the conversations I've had over the years regarding this album remind me just how good it is. Trophy Eyes Forever
a near perfect return from the lads from down under.
it
i miss putting reviews up, I'm trying to get back to
I hit a terrible slump full of depression and anxiety, for most of August and then this song came out and it was such a sweet reminder of life.
things (do) take time.
this is the kind of music i want to make when i am done making music, like i want something like this to be the final thing i put out.
peace.
hey! if you see this (this is self promo!) I rated it a 5 just to post this and give it an even score either way!!
just put this record out and I’m so excited it’s out in the world now!
