Weezer (2024 Remaster)

8.5/10 — A defining ’90s rock album with a huge place in my personal music history. Weezer (The Blue Album) is one of those records that perfectly captures the sound, attitude, and energy of alternative rock in the ’90s. From “Buddy Holly” and “Undone – The Sweater Song” to “Say It Ain’t So” and “My Name Is Jonas,” it’s packed with catchy guitars, smart songwriting, and a quirky personality that made Weezer completely their own. But this album means more to me than just being a great record—it was the soundtrack to my first concert. Weezer opened for Live at Wilkes University, and seeing them early in their career is a memory that has stuck with me for more than two decades. That makes it even more surreal that 20+ years later, I could see the same band sell out the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Going from opening a show at a university to headlining a sold-out arena is an incredible testament to the lasting impact of this album and the band. 8.5/10 — a classic ’90s album, a great collection of songs, and for me, a personal time capsule that connects my first concert to seeing Weezer become an arena-filling band decades later.

Amazing freshman offering, I have this as a no skip album. Totally timeless.
