Johnny Horton's Greatest HitsJohnny Horton

Really date myself here. My mom got my Dad an 8 track player for his truck for Christmas...my brother and I bought him this 8 track and a Jim Reeves as his first ones to play in it. We thought we were fancy having a 2nd option besides the radio! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿคฃ

1984Van Halen

I remember how "scandalous" it was that there was a cherub and a pack.of cigarettes....ruining youth with the messaging and bad rock n roll. I also remember seeing them for the first time...this album and Ill never forget Eddy Van Halen just shredding his guitar, looking down at his hands, then up at the crowd with this Cheshire cat grin as if to say, "I know?! I cant believe my hands can do this shit either!" ๐Ÿคฃ A fan, from that day forward.

Ballads of the Green BeretsSSgt. Barry Sadler

My Dad was in Vietnam and he never talked about it but once in awhile he'd get in this space and put this album on. Listen beginning to end, Go.out for a few beers and when he got home, he had put whatever emotion that was back in the box. When he was older and shared stories, I had a greater appreciation for those times when we heard "Fighting soldiers from the sky...fearless men who jump and die" and just knew he needed some space. He wasn't scary, no abuse or anything but this album reminds me of his experiences and how he soldiered on, LONG after he came home in 1967.

Standout tracks
  1. 1The Ballad of the Green Berets2:26
  2. 2I'm a Lucky One2:52
My WorldEddy Arnold

My Dad LOVED old country and this is sentimental for me. Make the World Go Away is one he'd belt out when it came on and I do the same thing when I hear it. ๐Ÿ’™

Wish You Were HerePink Floyd

You know when you get asked, if you were on a desert island and.could only listen to one song.....Wish You Were Here is my FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME. No idea why, just is. Saw them in late 80s early 90s at Foxboro Stadium. I only wanted to here my favorite song and Mother....They didn't disappoint. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’™

Standout tracks
  1. 4Wish You Were Here5:38
The Austin SessionsKris Kristofferson

Unpopular opinion sometimes, and not because he is the song writer but I have ALWAYS loved Kristoferson's version of Sunday Morning Coming Down better than Cash's version. And THIS album he does my favorite version of that song in all the years I heard him sing it. My Dad loved old country and there is probably not many notes that I don't know sung by this man. Incredible song writer, amazing storyteller AND a Rhodes Scholar! ๐Ÿ’™

Standout tracks
  1. 2Sunday Morning Coming Down5:19
  2. 7To Beat the Devil4:31
  3. 11The Pilgrim: Chapter 332:41
Tell MamaEtta James

First off this album came out the year I was born and my maternal grandfather LOVED Etta James. I can still hear this playing on their record player downstairs when I was visiting as a kid and it was bedtime. The needle hitting that vinyl....gahhh I love that sound. To this day, if its dark out and drizzly or even better post rain when fog is starting to lift with humidity here in the Carolinas...I will find a back road to travel to my destination....roll the windows down and blare I'd Rather Go Blind as loud as it will go! ๐Ÿ’™

Standout tracks
  1. 2I'd Rather Go Blind2:36
  2. 11It Hurts Me So Much2:37
  3. 12Just a Little Bit2:08
Exile On Main Street (2010 Remaster)The Rolling Stones

Probably not the BEST Stones album but it's MY favorite one and I rate albums on how it makes me feel. Also, my all time favorite Stones song is on here...Tumbling Dice....but I digress.....I discovered this gem in my teens hanging out smoking cigarettes and discovering what would become my life long appreciation for cold beer. Brings me back to good times and I still blare it in the car when it pops up. ๐Ÿ’™

Standout tracks
  1. 3Shake Your Hips2:59
  2. 5Tumbling Dice3:47
  3. 17Shine A Light4:16
JourneymanEric Clapton

I LOVE Eric Clapton but this album came out a few years after high school for me, Id been in this horrible relationship, I'd broken up with him and moved on a whim to Boston and bought this cassette for the ride. By the time I got from just north of Albany, NY to Waltham, MA where my brother lived....I knew every note. Pretending I think is my favorite on here....But Journeyman started me on a path that I never expected and I come back to it time and again. Also fun fact, won a bar trivia contest one night in the mid 2000's against a bunch of 20 something yr olds that Clapton is the ONLY guitarist inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 3 times. 2 with bands (Yardbirds & Cream) and 1 solo! Your welcome, if you're ever on Jeopardy! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’™
