The Strokes finally sounding like a band that actually wanted to make a record together again. Rick Rubin peels back the years and there's a real warmth here, less scrappy garage rock, more spaced out and reflective without losing what made them good in the first place. Bad Decisions leans hard into that New Order glow, easy hooks, feels like the closest thing to a classic Strokes song without just repeating themselves. Selfless is the quiet one, softly surfy and a little melancholic, sneaks up on you more than it announces itself. Still some of that offhand, half joking looseness they've always had, just wearing it a bit more gracefully now. Comeback album done right, no nostalgia trip required.

The best album since Room on Fire. Interesting new sound - they sound nothing like The Strokes from the early 00s on this album..
