Wish You Were Here

This is my favorite Pink Floyd album and is maybe the best introduction album for non-fans that want to dip their toe. This actually gives you their full range in just a handful of songs. And if David Gilmour isn’t one of the top 5 guitarists of the 1970’s… then I guess I just don’t know what I’m talking about.

10/10 — A masterpiece and one of the greatest albums ever made. Wish You Were Here is Pink Floyd at their absolute best: atmospheric, emotional, ambitious, and completely timeless. From the haunting opening of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” to the brilliance of “Welcome to the Machine,” “Have a Cigar,” and the unforgettable title track, every song contributes to an album that feels like one complete experience. What makes it truly special is its emotional depth. It explores absence, alienation, fame, loss, and the human cost of success without ever sacrificing the music. The production is extraordinary, the songwriting is iconic, and the album rewards you more every time you hear it. A 10/10 masterpiece, and absolutely one of my favorite albums ever. Few records capture a mood, an era, and a feeling this perfectly.

Pink Floyd albums are proper albums. Don’t try listening to just one song on this. Enjoy the whole ride.

I didn’t discover Pink Floyd when I was supposed to in high school—it took me another 20 years. But Wish You Were Here was worth the wait: haunting, immersive and, for me, worlds better than The Dark Side of the Moon.

This album still sounds futuristic. It’s like nostalgia from the future.

Love the song. Every time I listen to it my heart breaks a little bit but then I feel understood. The lyrics accompany and the sound embraces. It's the best comfort music.

You know when you get asked, if you were on a desert island and.could only listen to one song.....Wish You Were Here is my FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME. No idea why, just is. Saw them in late 80s early 90s at Foxboro Stadium. I only wanted to here my favorite song and Mother....They didn't disappoint. 🔥💙

Get comfy, dim the lights and hit play. Let Pink Floyd take you on a journey that is Wish You Were Here. Starts and ends with Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Going forward into Welcome To The Machine. Have A Cigar is all about the business of music. “Which one is Pink”! Mourning the loss of Syd Barrett. Ending back at Shine On (parts 6-9). This is a killer album with no skips. Block out the 45 minutes it takes to listen to this classic album. Enjoy!
