One of the first concept albums I ever heard. I grew up listening to the Beatles with my mom as a kid, and this album was always my favorite. It always hurts to hear just one song from this album and not hear the smooth transitions into the next track.

Since I have already covered Let It Be, this is my final studio album from The Beatles I will covering from The Beatles and while I do wish the band ended on this note, it is still a stellar project that feels like it wraps up everything The Beatles had been doing for the past 6 years up so beautifully. What is there really to say here that hasn't been said about this project, each track feels like a staple of its' time and of the band's discography for the entirety of the 47 minute runtime. Despite there being a good chunk of songs with a track time less than 3 minutes, each and every track here feels so complete and fleshed out with such rich detail. Millions of people have praised this album countless amounts of times because it is simply that good. Abbey Road is timeless and easily a classic all should hear at some point in your lifetime as it is nothing short of an impressive musical feat done by one of the best to ever do it. There really isn't anything I can add here other than do yourself a favor and give this album a spin even if you have heard it a million times or never a single time because it is simply that worth it. Nuff said.

I mean, it's Abby Road....is there anyone on the planet who hasn't been influenced by this album? One of my favorite things about it is the order in which the songs follow each other. This has to be their best album. The album cover is probably one of the most recognizable ever, along with Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon. I was just watching the documentary series 1971 and seeing again and again just how big their influence was—it’s crazy. These guys really changed the game. Abbey Road somehow never feels old. It’s polished but still weird, emotional without being overly sentimental, and experimental without feeling like it’s trying too hard. You can feel four completely different personalities pulling in different directions, but somehow it still works. It feels effortless, a little unhinged, incredibly cool, and completely its own thing.

I'm a huge fan of George Harrison (I wrote an article about him for Electric Literature that went viral) and what I love about this Beatles record is that George finally had 2 of his own songs on it, and what amazing songs they were: Here Comes the Sun and Something. Here Comes the Sun was the first Beatles song to reach 1 million streams on Spotify and Frank Sinatra called Something one of the best love ballads ever written. So, to me, this was the record where George was finally allowed by Paul and John to showcase his own skills as a songwriter.

Sounds like the Beatles closing the book on their own terms. That second side medley flows like nothing else, little pieces stitched into something bigger. Still catchy, still a bit weird, just tighter and more assured than before. A victory lap that never gets smug.
